Give the Gift of Reading
Studies show that children who read, do better in school! With your help, we can give disadvantaged children in the Dominican Republic the opportunity to experience the joys of reading in school and in life!
INMED Partnerships for Children with support from USAID, has partnered with Scholastic, the global children’s publishing company, to bring books to empty classrooms in 72 Dominican primary schools. These organizations have worked closely with Pontificia Universidad Católica Madre y Maestra (PUCMM) to select a collection of award-winning, Spanish-language children's books, posters, and teacher resources for K-3 classrooms that will enrich the learning environment in these under-resourced schools. These libraries will make a difference: The PUCMM will train teachers on how to use the books in their classrooms and will oversee the placement of libraries in the schools.
Your donation will go toward the purchase of books to build libraries for these deserving classrooms. Books will be purchased at discount from Scholastic, INMED"s publishing partner. Together, we can help bring the joys of reading books into these children’s lives.
The first libraries will be delivered to classrooms during December 2004. Please check back on this website to view photos of the difference these libraries can make in a child’s life!
