Grant/Scholarship Application and Reporting Requirements
Each scholarship andgrant applicant must be a resident of the Dominican Republic ('DR"), of low income, who wishes to better his/her life situation through education or training or who wishes to start a small business in the DR. Grants are not available for study outside the Dominican Republic, and they are normally limited in amount to no more than US$300.
Each applicant must have a sponsor, who is usually a Peace Corps Volunteer ("PCV"). Individual sponsors (PCVs) may solicit up to 4 scholarships equivalent to no more than US$300 each or a total of US$1,200 in any given year. In most instances, scholarship recipients are eligible for only one scholarship.
Fondo Quisqueya's ("FQ") Board of Directors has set the goal of annually awarding at least US$12,000 in grants and scholarships. Almost all awards have a US Dollar value of US$300 or less. These funds are distributed quarterly at a rate of US$3,000 per quarter. Total funding is subject to change at the discretion of the Washington-based Board, and it depends upon the amount of money donated to support the grant/scholarship program.
FQ's Local Committee in the DR uses the following schedule for application submissions. Applicants must have proposals submitted by the submission deadlines listed below in order to be considered for that round of funding. The decision on whether a grant or scholarship application will be funded normally is made within 30 days of receipt of the application. Once the decision is made, the sponsor will be promptly notified.
| Deadline for Quarterly Submission | FQ Response |
| January - March | April 1st - 30th |
| April - June | July 1st - 31st |
| July - September | October 1st - 31st |
| October - December | January 1st - 31st |
Grant/Scholarship Application forms are available on the desktops of all DRPCV computers. We encourage PCVs to involve the applicants in as much of the application process as possible. PCVs may print or e-mail themselves a copy of the application and have applicants fill out the proposal along with the PCV. All applications must be submitted electronically and sent to the following e-mail address: fondoquisqueyadr@yahoo.com Applcant photos should be given to the Applicant's PC Sponsor. Each sponsoring PCV normally will receive electronic responses to their sponsorship proposal requests by the deadlines listed above.
A report on the Grantee's progress should be sent by email by his/her PCV Sponsor to fondoquisqueyadr@yahoo.com at the mid-point of the grantee's training; and a final report should be submitted by the Sponsor after the training is completed.
