Programs

FQ has a single focus: to provide grants and scholarships (each usually no more than US$300) to low income Dominicans for education and training in the DR.

This education and training assists grantees to obtain new skills and enhanced opportunities for paying jobs and financial betterment, hopefully helping to improve their lives and those of their families.

What Kind of Education and Training Has FQ Supported?
From 1987 through 2008, FQ has donated more than US$92,000 to more than 580 individuals and groups in the D.R. for various kinds of training and education, including:

FQ's support may also include transportation and tuition for high school, text book purchases, and educational supplies.

In addition, in 1999 FQ donated money to help rebuild several schools in the Hato Rey area of the DR that had been severely damaged by Hurricane Georges. FQ’s donation for rebuilding the schools was the catalyst for a major donation by a Spanish Foundation and school rebuilding financing from the Dominican Government. In 2004, FQ donated money to help repair schools and provide replacement school supplies in Las Lagunas de Nisibon, Arroyo Grande, and in Nagua. The total contribution for both years was more than $23,000.

FQ's grants and scholarships do not support traditional four-year university education.

FQ's Annual Goal
FQ will distribute at least US$12,000 in grants and scholarships each year (US$3,000 per quarter).
