How We Are Organized
FQ is governed by an all-volunteer working Board of Directors. At present, there are 15 Board members, most of whom live in the Washington, D.C. metropolitan area and are Returned Peace Corps Volunteers ("RPCVs") from the DR or former DRPC staff. FQ's Board raises funds, considers and decides on grant and scholarship requests of more than US$300, sends out newsletters, and maintains FQ's website.
The bulk of FQ’s grantmaking activities are carried out in coordinated fashion through Peace Corps/DR and FQ's Local Committee in the DR, whose members are RPCVs. Peace Corps/DR assigns a PCV Coordinator ("PCVC") to work with FQ's DR Committee. The PCVC makes sure that PCVs are aware of FQ's purposes and funnels grant and scholarship applications to the DR Committee. The Local Committee receives and screens applications and makes final decisions on requests up to US$300. Once applications have been decided on, the PCVC takes charge of informing applicants of the outcome, facilitating grant and scholarship disbursements, and organizing and forwarding to the Board progress reports from the field.
